It always said in a wit, that SAP wins a patent for all the technologies whose names have 3-letter acronyms: ERP, CRM, MDM, XML, ESA, SOA. Founded in 1972 by IBM engineers SAP is popular for its enterprise resource planning(ERP) software.

SAP is currently the third-largest software manufacturer in the world using which businesses can manage business operations.The software solutions by SAP are customized to suit the requirements of the various businesses. Oracle being the closest competitor of SAP, but when it comes to integrated software SAP is surely the leader.

In 2014 SAP registered as SAP SE that is, Systems, Applications and Products Societas Europaea (as a European Company). The reason behind this change was to reflect the company's global reach.

SAP Business Suite is primarily for large enterprises, SAP Business by Design is for mid-sized organizations and for small business there is SAP Business one.
