Johnson and Johnson


The legendary and most trustworthy name in the healthcare industry is surely Johnson and Johnson.


The foundation of the Johnson and Johnson was led by Robert Wood Johnson along with his brothers, who had a concept of making ready-to-use surgical dressings. They made those products in 1886. These dressings were launched in market featuring a logo which actually look like the signature of James Wood Johnson. The logo of J&J used today has a lot of 
resemblance to older signature of James Wood Johnson. This logo is considered to be one of the longest-used company logos in the world.

Since from its invention BAND-AID has sold outstandingly such that the brand name has became generic to the first aid strips. It has been 97 years,that J&J band-aid adhesive bandages are in market and they have travelled to the moon too...yes BAND-AID Brand adhesive bandages were part of medical kit traveled to the moon. The linking of Johnson and Johnson brand with space programs by NASA were once again connected when a NASA engineer used Johnson's baby powder to secure a successful launch of Apollo-8.

But the history of the Band-Aid hasn't always been plain sailing. During 1960's, a TV commercial marketing the adhesive aid strip showed a soft pinkish colored strip promoting it as " almost invisible, flesh coloured".

But black liberation movement for american-african noticed this commercial and negated this though a illustration . By the mid-1980s, J&J thrived the “invisible” or clear bandage that could be ideal skin match to both white and non-white consumers.

The company was also in wrangle for many reasons such as a lawsuit  against the American Red Cross for the use of the red cross symbol. J&J also faced litigation for recall of their many products. Shareholders serious legal action against its board for manufacturing issues, bribing to officials etc were hurdles for J&J, which J&J is proposed to settle down soon. Recently J&J's baby powder seems to be a stumbling block for the company,causing J&J to pay million dollars in compensatory damages.


But J&J hold the line to maintain its position,viewpoints and practices which eventually turned J&J as one of the One of only three AAA-rated publicly-traded companies today.

J&J has never expressed its socially responsible deeds. J&J is one of the world's largest corporate donors contributing charity.
