It's been known that AT&T is world leader in communications, entertainment, technology and media. It was founded by Bell Telephone company in 1883.
The AT&T company popularly known as (Ma Bell) was so big then ,that the government had to forcibly broke it up in eight subsidiaries. These new companies were known as Regional Bell Operating
Companies, or more informally, Baby Bells.
But this spinout had turned in to one of the successful spin offs in the history. The companies formed after break up along with some baby bells purchased the parent company AT&T. Today, almost all of those companies are once again part of AT&T, they indeed meant to break only to become even bigger.
AT&T and Apple's a decade long partnership was also labeled as marriage of convenience.The disagreement
between the two has revealed that apple blamed AT&T for call dropping further AT&T announced iPhone "tethering", without informing Apple CEO Steve Jobs. Beside of these technical and business clashes between the two, there were cultural problems too. An AT&T representative tried to make Steve Jobs wear a suit instead of his turtleneck shirt which Jobs refused.
Some of the interesting facts about AT&T is that at one time, AT&T had the single largest database of records on the face of the earth. It also invented transistor in their labs without which the building of electronic devices would not be possible.
Over the years The AT&T has faced criticism and controversies like for almost 10 years, federal and local law enforcement agencies in US have engaged AT&T in a massive and secretive telephone surveillance program known as “Hemisphere.”The telecom giant was also in controversy for its censorship on blocking internet content and privacy controversy.
Recently AT&T testing out drones with Intel and Qualcomm. AT&T plans to connect millions of Ford vehicles with the help of Internet of Things (IoT), which link gadgets across AT&T's network to AWS; and cybersecurity services, which merges the two companies security features to counter cyber attacks.
